The Chair

Kids,

This chair is the most important chair of my life. Why? Because your mother sat on this chair. Intrigued?

Tell you more about it soon.

Love,

Your Dad

Be Like Kids

Kids,

The date is December 4, 2011 and its a Sunday. Our church is celebrating the second Sunday of Advent, in short, 2 Sundays to go before Christmas! The church is already decorated with Christmas decors plus the songs are all about the birth of Christ.

I was glad that after the mass, I had the chance to be a kid again. Kids, take note that even when you are grown ups already, have time and energy to be like a child. Trust me, it's the best feeling in the world.

Your Aunt Myka taught us a game called Who is the killer:

I can't explain it in details here but pretty soon, we will play it with your mom. More games were played prior to this.

Again kids, always have that child-like spirit in you!

Love,

Your Dad...

Spell Right

Kids,
You should learn how to spell properly and correctly!
Love,
Dad

Carl Elliot

Kids,

Let me tell you this: I want you to embrace the Kapampangan and Filipino Culture as you grow up. Its not because I am 75 percent Kapampangan and 100 percent Filipino, but because the culture is very rich and colorful. The legends told, the music played, the rhythms danced and the talents showed are endless. You should be proud of your roots.

It was December 3, 2011 when your Aunt Fenella treated us for a Kapampangan musical play entitled Kalaryot

The folklore was set during the Filipino-American War in the country specifically in the province of Pampanga. The American Major James Elliot and his wife had a son named Carl Elliot. But the Kapampangan soldiers invaded the camp of Major Elliot and  took Carl Elliot. One of the soldiers adopted Carl Elliot, which they soon called KALARYOT. Kalaryot grew up like a true Kapampangan man. Major Elliot on the other hand thought that his son was killed by the Kapampangan rebels.

The one in costume is the guy who played Major James Elliot--He's a very good actor, very natural and realistic.

Because of the war, the parents who adopted Kalaryot were killed by the Americans. During the same day, his girlfriend was also killed. Kalaryot, because of his anger, planned for a revenge against the enemies until he became infamous for the Americans. Because of this, Major Elliot wanted Kalaryot's head. Guess what, the Americans succeeded. Kalaryot was beheaded. Major Elliot, little did he know that Kalaryot is also Carl Elliot, his son. He was regretful that he was the one who killed his only son.

Kids, to be honest, I am clueless about this folklore. When I got home, I asked your great grandmother if they knew something about this. She told me that when she was little the term Kalaryot was used by their parents to scare them. Kalaryot is indeed a man with no head. If you read this and it scared you, you are allowed to sleep in our room tonight with your mom. *winks*

But, as I've said, this is just an urban legend and you have nothing to fear about. But if this is a true story, remain to be proud and enjoy the freedom that we have all because of the courageous Filipino soldiers who fought for our country. With that, be courageous as well and do not fear anything. The Bible says in 1 John 4:18 that perfect love cast out all fears...and that is God's love and my love for you.

I love you kids. Goodnight and Sweet dreams.

Love,

Your Dad

P.S. Kalaryot has a "sidekick" named Damian. He is our favorite character because of his humor--the stereotype sidekick!

My First Letter

Hey Kids,

Look at this picture:

of course, this is not your picture but this is how I envisioned you when I was still 22 years old--my age as I write this letter. This blog is dedicated for you and I hope you will like it. This will be the compilation of the lessons I have learned before your mom conceived you. I love you very much that I have already written my advises which will be useful when you grow up. Your grandparents had done their best to give me a great life as their son and I love them for that. But as for you, I want you to grow setting Jesus as the perfect example, nothing more, nothing less. Here's the first verse I will give you and you can find it in your digital bible (I'm writing in the past and you are in the future so technically, a digital bible makes sense). Type Luke 2:52 and read it.

Anyway, today is December 2, year 2011 and like I've said, I am 22. I just got home from our regular Friday meetups with your Aunt Rachel, Aunt Carizza, Aunt Fenella and your favorite Uncle Shan. We were able to talk about you guys in passing. This is the day when your Aunt Fen and Uncle Shan gave me the old black notebook you kids wanted to open. As you read this, the pages of the black notebook are now brittle so if I will allow you to read what's inside, be careful not to tear it apart. Aside from that, they also gave me a 3D eyeglass and some 3D pictures.

That's your aunt Jogs in the drawing. She was not around during that time.

After the meetup, your Aunt Rachel and I decided to continue the night at our "favorite cafe" in the city. Again, we talked about you guys and life in general.

Kids, always have friends who can build you up and encourage you to be enthusiastic in life. There is more to life! Renew your mind and allow creativity to always enter you. Be inspired always. Look for a place of inspiration and every time you go into that place...you think of your dreams.

To end this letter, I just want to leave you this important advise...its very essential that you should put this in your heart:

Just trust me!

I love you kids. Goodnight and Pray always.

Dad
